Poonhill trek, the short, colorful and relatively easy trek, takes its place in the western part of Kathmandu into the Annapurna region, one of the most popular trekking destination which offers impressive natural scenery, marvelous views of Annapurna, Dhaulagiri, Machhapuchchhre and Himchuli.One can get the lifetime chance to see some of the most dramatic views of some of the highest and most beautiful mountains in the world including pristine forests, diversity of flora and fauna encounter with the warm heartedness of the simple people whose rich and varied customs give you an insight into the typical life style of Gurung and Magar people.

On the way of trekking you are sure to encounter the legendary Gorkha soldiers who had served in the Gorkha Army during the world war in many countries. The main attraction of Ghorepani trekking is Poon Hill, situated at an altitude of 3100m, the most spectacular mountain spot on earth.

Day 01 Kathmandu

Arrive at Kathmandu
Kathmandu Arrive at Kathmandu Our staff will be standby in International airport, we display your name plate and pick you up from airport to Hotel. Refreshment drinks and brief you detail programs in Itinerary. Overnight stay in the Kathmandu Hotel. 

Day 02 Kathmandu

Kathmandu Valley Sightseeing pre- Treks (1350m)
Kathmandu Valley Sightseeing pre- Treks (1350m) Today we go for Half day sightseeing around Kathmandu valley. You will be escorted by a professional guide and tour you Kathmandu Durbar Square and Swayambhunath stupa. Kathmandu Durbar Square is popular for its ancient temple and monuments construction from 7th century to early 20thcentury. Focus attraction of this heritage site is “Kumari”, only living goddess in Hindu religion. Different structure of temples like Shikhara style, Pagoda style and Stupa style looks so unique. Swayambhunath Stupa is situated on top of hillock where everybody can see view of Kathmandu valley. Another name of this Stupa is Monkey temple because of real monkeys down here. (note: It is not a good idea to go so close and snap pictures of small babies of Monkey. Mother can attack you. Be careful while walking close to them). Afternoon Trek preparation. Overnight stay in hotel. 

Day 03 Pokhara

Drive Kathmandu to Pokhara (950m) -6 to 7 hours by tourist bus.
Morning drive to Pokhara by Tourist bus. It is 6-7 hrs drive. You will enjoy scenic views of mountain, Trisuli and Marshyangdi river. Some time you can see rafting on these rivers. Check in at the Hotel. Rest a while and evening exploration around Lake side area. Overnight at the Hotel.

Day 04 Trekking

 Drive to Nayapull (1010m) – 1: 45 hours and trek to Tikhedunga (1570meters) - 3 hours

Drive to Nayapul. It takes around 1:45 hrs. We entry check post and start our trek to first destination Tikhedhunga. It is wide trail and low altitude hike. Lush green, river and water fall makes you excited for coming days. Over night at Tea house. 

Day 05 Trekking

Tikhedhunga to Ghorepani (2840m) – 5 to 6 hours
Today we start hike crossing suspension bridge and uphill walk. It will took around 2 hrs of uphill and reach Ulleri from where you are awarded by view of Mt. Annapurna south and Hiunchuli. We walk through lush green forest and nice waterful to Banthati. We enjoy our lunch and continue to Ghodepani. Overnight at Tea house.

Day 06 Trekking

Hike up Ghorepani to Poon Hill (3210m) - 45 munites, to Tadapani (2520m) – 4 to 5 hours
We wake you up early in the morning. We hike to the Poonhill (3210m) for Sunrise, Annapurna and Dhaulagiri range. We can see best impressive view of Mountain range from this place among our Trek. We spend around an hour and descend down to the Tea house for breakfast. Continue to Tadapani after breakfast. It is up hill to Deurali and downhill to Banthati where we will have our lunch and continue hike to Tadapani. Today’s trail is very popular for Rhododendron tree also national flower of Nepal. If you do this trek in spring season March-April you will enjoy more and your camera will busy taking pictures too. 

Day 07 Trekking

Tadapani to Jhinu Danda (hot spring) (1780m) - 5 to 6 hourse
Today we descend down first to Chuile, nice place to take rest. We continue descend down, cross the suspension bridge of Kimrong khola and hike ascend to Ghurjung our lunch place. After lunch gradually ascend and descend to Jhinu Danda. We first check in to the Tea house and walk down to hot spring. We enjoy couple of hrs feel warm, refresh and back to Teahouse. Overnight at Tea house. 

Day 08 Trekking

Jhinu Danda to Tolka (1790m) - 4 to 5 hours
We descend down to New bridge and continue to Landruk. We will take rest explore around Landruk and continue to Tolka. Overnight at Tea house.

Day 09 Trekking

Trek Tolka to Dhampus (1580m) - 3 to 4 hours
We hike to Bhedikharka - Deurali through lush green forest to Pothana. We will take rest and check out from the Trek and descend down to Dhampus. Overnight at Tea house.

Day 10 Pokhara

Drive  Dhampus to Pokhara - 1hr and Explore Pokhara Valley

Today is our last hike. We hike to Phedi, will take small rest and drive back to Pokhara. Check in at hotel and Explore around Pokhara valley. We do sightseeing at Devi’s fall, Gupteshwor Mahadev Cave and Tibetan refugee camp. Rest and relax time. Overnight at hotel. 

Day 11 Kathmadnu

Drive back to Kathmandu early in the morning by Tourist Bus - 6 to 7 hours Farewell dinner at Kathmandu
Drive back to Kathmandu. Relaxation and shopping time. Evening we pick you up from hotel for farewell dinner. We treat you at authentic Nepali restaurant with cultural dances. Overnight at hotel.

Day 12 Departure Final Departure to your Destination
Final Departure to your Destination Today is your final day in Kathmandu. Free till final departure. We pick up you from hotel for your final departure transfer. Not only departure our staff can help with travel arrangements to extend your adventure.

"This was my first trek ever, and I loved it!!

I did volunteering work at Swarga Children's Home in Bhaktapur (same owner as Himalayan Moment) for 10 weeks. After this amazing experience I went on the Mardi Himal trek with my boyfriend in April 2017.
He made a summary of our trek:
On the first day I arrived in Bhaktapur in the evening and I was picked up by Krishna from the airport. I was very tired from my journey, but Krishna and his wife Roshni made me feel immediately at home at their guest house “The Heart of Bhaktapur”. The rooms there were excellent with an en-suite bathroom and shower. The breakfast is freshly prepared every day and is absolutely delicious; a great way to start your day! Especially the secret-recipe Kurd is out of this world.

The next day we met our guide for the week: Sanjeet. We immediately saw that Sanjeet is a amicable and very friendly person who speaks English really well. Sanjeet would be our go-to-guy for the entire week and that would prove very helpful during the trek and the stays at the tea lodges, but more on that later on.

After we had met Sanjeet we went to the airport to catch our domestic flight to Pokhara. When we arrived at Pokhara, a car was arranged ahead by Himalayan moments and we could immediately get into the car that drove us to the hotel. When we arrived at the hotel, the only thing we had to do was check in and refresh ourselves in the room. The rest was taken care of by Himalayan Moments. After a quick lunch we were shown the plan for the trek of the coming week and after that we took a walking tour of city of Pokhara with Sanjeet. He asked us what we wanted to do and for how long the walking tour should last beforehand. We decided that we would take a walk of about 3 hours through Pokhara. After that, we split for dinner and we met the following morning to leave for our trek.

That morning our trek finally began. We met our porter and the four of us were driven to Kande. Again, Sanjeet had arranged a car to Kande, the starting point for our trek. Our porter took care of our backpack and the only thing we had to carry was the day backpack with our water bottles and camera’s. The porter and his salary and expenses were included in the price and was taken care of by Himalayan Moments.

Sanjeet adjusted the walking pace to our capabilities and the morning flew by. We had to stop at the check point to get our permits for the trekking area but that was all taken care of by Sanjeet so all we had to do was rest for a bit. Shortly after we arrived at the lunch site and all we had to do was order our lunch and relax. Breakfast lunch and dinner was included at all the tea lodges and Sanjeet was our translator to Nepalese so we would not have to invest our energy in ordering the food in a different language. In the afternoon we reached the first overnight place at Forest Camp. Again, Sanjeet had reservations on the room so all we had to do was place our bags in the room and head for dinner and relax.

The following days were very similar; we would give Sanjeet our orders for breakfast the evening ahead and he would make sure that the breakfast was served on time when we woke up. Every day was very well planned with well-timed rests in between during trekking.

On days the climbs were steeper, we would walk a bit shorter on that day and the days that the trail was a bit flatter we would make more hours. Even though we were not extremely high, Sanjeet was very careful with possible altitude disease. From the third day on we would reach our overnight staying place and have lunch and after lunch we would climb to about 500 meter higher to acclimatize at that altitude and then descend down again to the tea lodge. Since we were inexperienced trekkers and did not know a lot about altitude disease it was very assuring that Sanjeet took precaution with the height and acclimatization."

"I am a Mountain lover, my passion is to do trek close to Himalayas and see the great sights of high snow capped mountains. I did some research online about trekking in Nepal then found Himalayan Moment. From the very first e-mail they did quick response and provide us detail information we required. Our guide Sanjeet was very nice, he was always available and made sure that everything we needed in teahouse and on the trail always ready to help us. Every evening he explain following days plan and schedule that was very reassuring and kept us focused and relaxed.
We have done Everest Cho-la Pass trek, it was a great trip and I already planned to go back after couple of years for next adventure with Himalayan Moment.

"Hiking from close to Jiri to Lukla was my route, while my partner continued on to Base Camp. Although my trek was shorter, the magnitude of what I experienced was life-changing. The service provided by the company, the guide and the Sherpas can only be described as being well above anything expected.The coordination of the entire trip - from arrival to Kathmandu to leaving Nepal - was amazing.Absolutely everything was scheduled to the point where one didn't have to do anything more than to be on location.The actual trek was very demanding, but our guide Mann supported us at every turn.His professionalism, knowledge and personality were a treat.
